What gyms tell about a person

Why does how a mans work ethic in the gym matter?

There are three types of people at the gym and they all come in different shapes and sizes.

1st. The meathead:

Yes we all know of them and I understand the need to look good, however to just look good shows a lack of confidence in who you are. I’m not talking about grunting or working hard, I mean staring at yourself in the mirror in front of everyone… Do it at home. By the way, one reason why I admire Cressey performance in Hudson, Massachusetts…no mirrors, just focus.
Back on point, going in the gym and picking up a heavy weight doesn’t make you special as well as doing steroids aka “Roids” to get there does not either! Showing that you have no goals other than to look good is sad and not something a younger generation should look up too.

2nd Those to say they work out:

Look I’ll give you credit your at least in there when many don’t even make the effort. However it is no better than the meathead… To feel good about saying you did something there over your non exercise group of friends is short lived.
Once again it shows a lack of confidence in being who you are whether you truly work out or not. I think you are less obnoxious in the gym and don’t really have an effect on the younger generation but I think this type of attitude will continue in the rest of your life and may become unhealthy to your goals, if you have any.

3rd Competitive and shooting for goals:

Anyone in the gym who goes there for how little or big of a purpose shows an example of the G.R.I.N.D. way and shows a competitive person in and outside the gym. To use the gym as source of accomplishment whether it be for five more pounds or one more rep shows self improvement and the competitive edge we all hold inside of us in this world. I found my edge and competitive ways at an athletic training facility known as Cressey which I spoke about earlier. All of this happened because everyone there was focused on a small goal of that higher weight and a large goal of making our dreams a reality! As I said before, the end goal is irrelevant but the work towards it is the most important lesson and feeling any one can learn or have. The lesson of accomplishing short term and long term goals and tracking them on a daily basis prepares us for any type of situation along the road. In the end we are creating a stronger mental health which will always beat any other type of strength in this world! Now transmitting that work ethic into my company will allow me to go after short term goals like getting our brand in national chains, all the way to our long term goals of setting better examples for younger athletes and giving them more opportunity for those goals.
